"The Art Of Recycling"
In my studio apartment, my trash can is my most valued asset -where I can go for art materials. To me, there are two kinds of trash: 1)stuff I throw out on purpose assuming it had no value. :2)stuff thrown out accidentally that I assumed had value. FunTasTickz attempts to addresses the issues that I call "The Disposable Society". The Artist, Dennis N. Easter, has created all of my artwork from discarded items from my trash can as well as from trash cans in my community in order to prevent the resources from ending up in a landfill where it can affect Climate Change.
A The Lesson That I have Learned ... One Person'S Trash Is Another Person's Treasure.
Excess And Scarcity, The Disposable Society"
Imagine this:as many artists search for affordable art supplies , ironically, miles away many tons of plastics, metals, glass, paper and other resources are being buried in landfills. Sadly, this is the co-existence of excess and scarcity in our culture.
Before it is too late, we must began to think outside the landfills or we'll be living In It, because we are running out of places to put our trash/resources. To help me the recycling efforts, I developed FunTasTickz.
What is FunTasTickz Trash Artz ?
FunTasTickz Trash Artz is a green environment- friendly arts and craft problem -solving tool developed by, environmental artist, Dennis N. Easter, over a 14 year period, to help him navigate the plastics and other materials in his household trash ,including clothing, in order to prevent the resources from ending up in a landfill where it can affect Climate Change . In the end ,the artist is attempting to reduce the size of his carbon footprint.
The artist is willing to reach out to other people and organizations to show what he has learned from FunTasTickz. The project : re-thinks, re-cycles, re-uses, re-invents, re-defines , re-fashions and re-evaluates natural resources before sending them to a landfill .At the same time, FunTasTickz will fill the world with art instead of trash.
We Have Been Warned
A Report from the Earth Day Network stated that there are currently 3,091 landfills in the U.S. which contain around 12 billion metric tons of plastics and other materials. Ironically, though plastic bottles are collected for recycling every week, 9 out of every ten tons of plastic bottles collected for recycling will end up in a landfill. The Earth Day Network went on to say that it is believe that plastics do not bio degrade and can remain buried for hundreds of years.
Another report found in Newsweek, the average American will throw away 80 lbs. of clothing annually. 84% will of the clothing will end up in a landfill where it will release harmful green house gases that can affect global warming. In addition to affecting global warming, the dyes and chemicals in the fabrics can leach into the soil contaminating both surface and ground water.
Studio One: "From Ragz To Blanketz"
What Is From Ragz To Blanketz ?
" From Ragz To Blanketz "is an art and craft project developed by environmental artist Dennis N. Easter to help him navigate his old clothing that was either too worn to wear or too damaged to donate- in order to prevent the resources from going to a landfill.
The fabrics used to transform the clothing into colorful blankets were embellished with different colors, textures, patterns and designs .
lothing Used With From Ragz To Blanketz:
denim pants , *denim shirts, * khaki pants, *Khaki shirts, *corduroy pants * corduroy shirts, *sheets, *pillow cases and *tee shirts.
All the fabrics were embellished with beautiful textures, colors ,patterns and designs.
NOTE: To date,2019, the artist has transformed many pounds of old clothing into seven colorful blanketz therefore, preventing the resources from ending up in a landfill .
After gathering all of these materials, the artist cut all of the clothing into four inch equal squares . The hardest thing to do was making all the different textures come together and express a totally new idea.
Cut clothing .
To date 2/10/20, the artist has transformed many pounds of old clothing into eight blanketz.

Studio 2: Bottle Cap Sculpturez
Bottles
Though the New York started the recycling prograsm on May 29, 1990, to date nine out of every ten tons of plastic bottles collected for recycling, will still end up in a landfill somewhere in America
On recycling day in Brooklyn, New York ,even on the Brooklyn Bridge, the artist can find any color bottle caps that he needs. Through the
plastic bags,he can see all the beautiful colors of the bottle caps inside.
Ironically, though only 1 out of every ten tons of plastic is recycled, the
bottle caps are rarely recycled, except by artists. In fact, if most people
followed the bottle law, they would have to remove the bottle cap from
the bottle before disposing it. Casing point , though only some plastic
bottles are recycled, the bottle caps are never recycled. With the resources
collected , I developed "The Bottle Cap Sculpturez"
What Are Bottle Cap Sculpturez" ? Bottle Cap Sculpturez is Earth -friendly craft project that transform plastic and metal bottle caps, plastic bottles popsicle sticks and other household trash. The color of the bottle caps determine what colors will be used on the project.
As the Bottle Cap Sculpturez project matured, it began to utilize many other household discarded items.
